Ellen Allien needs no introduction. In this excellent mix hosted by R.fm, the BPitch Control head honco and Berlin techno queen drops rhythms a bit more on the house side of things: Smash TV:s repetetive deep house and Shit Robot’s old school Chicago vibes, just to nama a few. It’s still Ellen-minimal though – and still freaking awesome.
Our favourite boys from Belgium, nu-disco duo Aeroplane, are back with a new mix on R.fm. It’s a summer session, indeed, with “everything from House, Indie to New Romantic vibrations”: Headman, Jori Hulkonnen, Montauk – and even a bit of Scissor Sisters thrown in for good measure!
French DJ and producer Cosmo Vitelli, famed remixer of Daft Punk and Junior Boys and label boss at I’m A Cliche, takes his name from a sleazy night club manager in John Casavettes 70’s noir classic The Killing of Chinese Bookie.
Sleaze, in the positive, disco sense, is also something of Cosmo Vitelli’s trademark as a DJ. In this mix, brought to you by R.fm and recorded live at Mona in his hometown Paris earlier this year, Cosmo lays out vintage and updated disco grooves that would make dancers go crazy at any given point in club history. And there’s the odd house classic too, mais oui!
Bern-based, hard-partying duo Round Table Knights occupy the land somewhere between disco happiness, tech house and raving hands-in-the-air club music. On May 7th, the play Fabric London and to hype up the occassion, they Bern boys put together this pumping promo mix shock full of popped-up disco rhythms.
Ewan Pearson, noted producer/remixer and regular DJ at club institutions around the world, just released a mix CD for Kompakt. We are proud of our choices, as the album is called, is already tipped by Resident Advisor as an “early contender of mix of the year.”
We could only agree.
To promote the album, Ewan Pearson put together a promo mix, featuring deep tech house and techno from producers like Losoul and Adam Beyer. Listen below, courtesy of our friends at R.fm. To read an interview with Ewan Pearson on his Kompakt mix CD, head on over to Resident Advisor.
