The Rub, Ayres, Cosmo Baker and Eleven, are some of the most versatile hip hop DJ:s to come out of New York since the early 00’s. If it was our call their Hip Hop History mixes, summing up the best tracks from every year in hip hop from 1979 to 1999, should earn them a place in a future Hip Hop Hall of Fame – it’s that dope. What’s even doper is that all the mixes are available here on Let’s mix!
Every week, we revisit a few of the great years in hip hop. Today, the time has come for 1982-1984. Get down!
With a history dating back to the mid 90’s, club and record label Raw Fusion is a main backbone on the Swedish underground dance scene – and its founder Mad Mats one of Stockholm’s true DJ legends.
In this set, brought to you by R.fm, Mad Mats showcases his signature style: Deep, stripped-down house rhythms layered with jazzy harmonics and the odd club classic. Go Mad!
The monthly mixes from Berlin based disco/house blog DiKSO are quickly becoming favourites at the Let’s mix office. We featured February’s installment from DJ Andi de Luxe on the blog a couple of months ago. Since then, DiKSO’s Daniel Solar has been around the block with another excellent mix. Now it’s April and the records are passed to DJ and producer Marc Poppcke.
According to German DJ and producer Manuel Tur, his hometown Essen is synonymous with “urban boredom”. That, apparently, makes for great electronic music. A case in point is Tur’s latest release Beasts & The Birds, a classy EP led by the organic tech house builder Fianchetto.
Fianchetto is also featured in this excellent promo mix, along with tracks from Fourtet, Pete Heller and Manuel Tur’s production partner Dplay. Being bored is definitely not being boring.
Those of you who have uploaded a mix on Let’s mix recently, might have already noticed, but for everyone else: We’ve launched a great little new feature – mix transfer!
