Recently Ras Kwame, DJ/producer veteran, BBC Radio 1 personality and general champion of grime, dubstep, UK garage and funky, bassline and generally heavy hitting British music, launches his new Road Runners mixtape series. First up, naturally, is volume one, featuring new tracks from Donae’o and other sizzling hot artists from London and beyond.
Just a quick reminder: Female spinners can enter Next Girl DJ from anywhere in Europe. Just choose the location you would be willing to travel to – that is London, Berlin, Paris or Brussels – in case you qualify for the semi-final! Good luck, and remember to have fun with your mixes, keep them fresh and all about you.
You know how it is with deadlines – they’re here to be broken. Joking aside, the quality of mixes, productions and general artist packaging in the NGDJ finals has truly been astounding, making the jury’s work much harder than expected.
This means the NGDJ jury is still very much caught up in all the magnificent mixing from you lot. As a result, the winner announcement date will be pushed back until Wednesday March 3rd. Expect this to be the date when we deliver the full NGDJ top 100 list.
We are sorry to keep you waiting like this. But in the end we hope you understand that this is done only to benefit the competition. Thanks for your patience.
Dude duo Legobeat, part of the DBTY DJ and blog crew, made us dance around the office today. Their killer mix Jingles, Claves, Klezmer, featuring lush, melodic techno from Renaissance Man and a couple of Legobeat’s own remixes, is drenched in – yes – claves and generally sweet vibes.
The poster boys of Belgian disco, Aeroplane, are longtime Let’s mix favourites. Now they’re back with another excellent studio session, brought to us by the good people at R.fm. Aeroplane’s February session features “good old New York garage and disco house feelings”, with artists like Black Van and Fern Kinney in the playlist.
On the Let's mix blog you'll find updates on our service, interviews with people who use it and, occasionally, rants from our beloved staff. It's an open forum, so feel free to comment and share your thoughts with us.
